Beth Lake is freelance Sound Designer and theater practitioner based in NYC.  Working on a wide variety of projects she has discovered a particular fondness for creating new, text-based works.  Since moving to NYC she has created a solid network of collaborators and creators. She also is often behind the tech table as an Associate designer for the likes of Darron West (Tony winner 2012), John Gromada (Tony nom. 2013) and Jane Shaw (Lortel nom. 2013, 2009).

Upcoming productions include productions of the Dreamer Examines His Pillow with the Attic Theater Company, and His Girl Friday at Barrington Stage Company.

Beth is a graduate of the M.F.A program in Sound Design at the University of California, Irvine.  She spent three years in sunny California under the tutelage of Michael K. Hooker and Vincent Olivieri.  Prior to attending UCI, Beth was at the University of Northern Colorado where she earned at B.A in Theater Arts.  The program at UNC is led by David Grapes, and Anne Toewe.

Other interests...

In her free time, Beth likes to cook, and pretend that she'll be good at it some day.  She has had a life long dream of owning a bakery.  If you're lucky, she'll bring you pie to rehearsal.

Beth has recently become one of those people who will freely tell you about her workout the previous day for no reason. She's been having way too much fun picking up heavy things and putting them back down again.  Thanks Crossfit Sunnyside.

She also loves traveling.  Having traveled across the US and Europe, she aims for a Latin America trip next.  Below are a few photos from her travels. Her favorite place so far has been the fishing villages of Cinque Terre, Italy.  You can see that by the silly grin on her face, pictured below.  Although, Anchorage, Alaska is a very close second.
